DOOM Eternal: Future Hell Exploration 2

From the Archives: An additional early "future hell" exploration done for DOOM Eternal's pre production around 2015.
.
The idea in this image was what could a very ancient and decaying super computer hell look like in some of its oldest and possibly lowest areas. Maybe some sort of data collection unit with nodes and power absorbers all throughout the lower levels? Instead of snow ash falls and the 'trees' a are miles high petrified structures connected to the levels above. Directly inspired by Nausicaa's valley of the window petrified forest section.

The rest of the exploration linked below were part of some broad strokes idea I was given the opportunity to come up with. The idea was what a 'future' techno oligarchy city could look like in hell. While it didn't make it into the base game, the idea of a future hell city later appeared in the second DLC for DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 2. It looked nothing like this , but it was fun to explore idea so early on. I had the fortune to work on the designs for that level which was in part heavily inspired by/reused a lot of the Maykr Environment kit and designs we had used for Eternal to save time and energy. It worked out very well as you can barely see the similarities in both kits. Smart work by our environment team!
